Carpinteria Birdwatchers

Carpinteria Birdwatchers are a group of people in and around Carpinteria, CA, who enjoy birdwatching. We have evening birdwatching classes and morning birdwatching outings once a month. All classes and outings are free and open to all ages and ability levels.

Classes are held on the third Wednesday of each month (usually) at 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Carpinteria Public Library on Carpinteria Avenue.

We also do a low-key birdwatching outing somewhere around Carpinteria on the Saturday after each class.

August update:

After taking the month of July off we’ll be back in action in August. In the class on August 21 we’ll continue our discussion of extinction: why it happens, what we can do about it, and what the future holds. In the second half of the class we’ll talk about shorebirds: Willets, curlews, godwits, plovers, peeps, and more! The fall migration has started, and cool shorebirds are showing up on local beaches and mudflats. It’s an exciting time to go birdwatching!

For the outing on August 24 we’ll have a special treat: Going back to the restricted-access portion of the Carpinteria Salt Marsh, off Estero Way.

Hope to see you at one or both of these events!
