Carpinteria Birdwatchers

Carpinteria Birdwatchers are a group of people in and around Carpinteria, CA, who enjoy birdwatching. We have evening birdwatching classes and morning birdwatching outings once a month. All classes and outings are free and open to all ages and ability levels.

Classes are held on the third Wednesday of each month (usually) at 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Carpinteria Public Library on Carpinteria Avenue.

We also do a low-key birdwatching outing somewhere around Carpinteria on the Saturday after each class.

January 2020 update:

We have two topics scheduled for the evening class on Wednesday, January 15, 2020:

  • Herons and Allies — All about those curvy-necked, long-legged waders
  • Lake Los Carneros — An overview of one of the best places in southern Santa Barbara County to go birdwatching: Goleta’s Lake Los Carneros

For our outing on Saturday, January 18 I wanted to try something new and a little ambitious: a longer-distance field trip to Lake Los Carneros in Goleta. Carpools are encouraged; I can take up to 4 additional people with me. Send me an email at jbc@jbcsystems.com or call me at 805-455-0053, or check in with me at the Wednesday class on January 15, to make arrangements.

Hope to see you at one or both of these events!
