Carpinteria Birdwatchers

Carpinteria Birdwatchers are a group of people in and around Carpinteria, CA, who enjoy birdwatching. We have evening birdwatching classes and morning birdwatching outings once a month. All classes and outings are free and open to all ages and ability levels.

Classes are held on the third Wednesday of each month (usually) at 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Carpinteria Public Library on Carpinteria Avenue.

We also do a low-key birdwatching outing somewhere around Carpinteria on the Saturday after each class.

November 2019 update:

We have two topics scheduled for the evening class on November 20:

  • The Carpinteria Christmas Count — A quick update on the upcoming Carpinteria Christmas Bird Count.
  • Gulls, Part 2 — A quick review of the October class (“gull identification basics” and “the big four”), then on to “the slightly more exotic five” (less common gull species found in our area).

For our outing on November 23 we’ll visit a new location: Franklin Park (a small “pocket park” along Sterling Avenue in Carpinteria).

Hope to see you at one or both of these events!

— John Callender
